Etude House Double Lasting Foundation is very popular due to being a dupe for the Estée Lauder’s Double Wear foundation. It has 12 shades in total. If you’re familiar with korean cushions/foundations you know how limited the shade range can be. So, 12 shades is a good step forward. I got mine in the shade #05 Sand. I try to look at as many swatches as I can when I buy cushions or foundations online. It’s not easy getting the color that matches you the most. The undertone of Sand is good for my skin, looks neutral. Although, it is a tad bit darker when I see the contrast between the jaw and neck. This would be similar to a light no. 23 shade. The foundation comes in a frosted glass bottle and has a pump.

Application

Shake the bottle well before using. A little goes a long way with this foundation. It depends on the coverage that you need, but sometimes I don’t even use a full pump. I’m used to applying bb creams with my hands, however if you try applying this foundation with your hands, it’s going to look like you have a mask on. Hence, use a brush (or sponge for more coverage) to apply it.

Performance

Texture: The texture of the foundation is a little thick, but fluid. I tried applying this with my fingers once and that’s when it felt too much and heavy on the skin. It accentuated the fine lines and looked unnatural. Using a brush not only applies it evenly, but it’s easy to blend and feels way more lightweight. Do not overblend though, because it sets down fast.

Finish: It is semi-matte, but leaves this natural subtle satin-like finish on the skin. And I like that. I have oily dehydrated skin, so I was a little worried that it may get in my fine lines and pores. Before applying the foundation I moisturized my skin and I didn’t have any issue. Not only was the application smooth, but it offered such a good oil control without drying out my skin or becoming cakey. So, make sure that the skincare you use under will be suitable and work well with the foundation. Would not recommend using powder on top of this.

Coverage: I would say the coverage is medium to full. I have some dark veins under my eyes and it covers them 80% with one layer. You can build it up to two layers. I wouldn’t do more that that unless you want to look cakey. I don’t need to use concealer with this foundation.

Lasting Power: I know that many brands claim for their foundations to last 24h but that is just BS in my opinion. It depends also on your skin type, skincare and whether you set it, but the natural oils of your skin will come through and break it down eventually. Overall, this lasted up to 5-6 hours without setting it. Also skincare, skin type and weather conditions play a role so keep that in mind. The skin still looked even toned and bright when it started to fade, so it wasn’t patchy.
After 6 hours when I looked it up close it did look fairly powdery, which explains the oil control. So, I would not recommend this for dry or mature skin. In addition, you’ll need to take care of your skin texture beforehand with skincare (exfoliation and hydration) for a smooth application.

I haven’t gotten any breakouts from this all the times I’ve used it and actually went to sleep once or twice without removing it. Don’t judge me please… haha. I’m guilty of doing this sometimes. Still, didn’t break me out or irritate my skin. When it comes to foundations, this is a huge plus for me.
Although I don’t rely on makeup for sun protection, it has an spf 34 PA++ which is great!
The Etude House Double Lasting Foundation is a foundation that I like to use in the evenings. During the daytime, I want to use something with less coverage, more glow, that looks super natural. It’s just personal preference. It adheres very well on the skin and sets relatively fast. Look how beautiful the finish looks on the swatch below.

It has a distinct floral scent. I don’t mind it, but if you don’t like scents, it’s something to consider.

Final Verdict

Pros

  • Easy to blend with a brush.
  • Looks natural in one layer with brush application.
  • Most suitable for normal, oily, and combination skin.
  • Medium to full coverage.
  • Lasts a good amount of time.
  • Doesn’t transfer easily.
  • Didn’t cause any breakouts.
  • Spf 34 PA++.
  • Hygienic packaging.

Cons

  • Not suitable for dry or mature skin (even if you have some texture, you’ll need to take care of ti with skincare).
  • Will look cakey if powder is applied on top.

Overall, the Etude House Double Lasting Foundation is a pretty good foundation! It has good coverage, nice finish, lasts for good amount, doesn’t get greasy and I didn’t get a single breakout from using it! Most of the times that I’ve used a foundation from western brands of this coverage I have gotten acne. So, I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t happen with this one. The only thing is I would not recommend this for dry or mature skin. Also, if you have dehydrated skin and dry patches that you find hard to fix even with skincare. You don’t want to accentuate any of that and make your face look cakey. I would recommend it for normal, combination and oily skin!
