With summer in full swing, we know how important it is to keep our skin safe from those powerful UV rays. But let’s be real – not all sunscreens are created equal. Some leave us feeling like a greasy mess, and nobody has time for that!
So, today I’m reviewing another elegant Korean sunscreen – the SKIN&LAB Hybarrier Fresh Sun Lotion. The Skin and Lab sunscreen launched only last year, so it’s relatively new in the market.

What is it: Organic (chemical) sunscreen.

Where to buy: Available at Yesstyle (reward code: KBEAUTYNOTES for 5% extra off your order, can be used with other coupons), StyleKorean, and Jolse.

Price: $16-$25

Volume: 50ml (1.69 fl.oz.)

PAO: 12 months after opening.

How does the SKIN&LAB Hybarrier Fresh Sun Lotion SPF50+ PA++++ perform

Protection:
SPF 50+, PA++++

Texture and finish:
Lightest lotion consistency you can imagine, and when it sinks into your skin, it leaves you with this super smooth satin finish. No sticky, greasy mess here. Wears very comfortably – it’s like wearing nothing at all, but your skin’s still protected. It suits all skin types, yes, even if you’ve got oily skin and don’t mind a bit of a natural glow.

Does it contain alcohol?
Yes.

Fragrance/Scent?
Yes. This sunscreen isn’t completely fragrance-free, but my skin didn’t throw a fit about it: no bad reactions or anything. The scent is there, but it’s so subtle and pleasant. Kind of powdery. Personally, I’m a fan of it!

Is it drying?
No. I layer the Skin and Lab sunscreen under my trusty hydrating base – either a toner or a serum – in my morning routine, and my skin stays moisturized. No dryness in sight! When used on its own, I don’t find it very hydrating, though, but it doesn’t make the skin feel tight, either.

Does it leave a white cast?
It contains only organic (chemical) filters, so it blends seamlessly into your skin without leaving any white cast.

Irritation or breakouts?
No, neither. I always make sure to use another product prior, which also reduces the chances of irritation. The other product creates a barrier, preventing direct contact with the skin.

How does it work with makeup?
Since it doesn’t feel like anything on the skin, it doesn’t interfere with makeup at all.

Does it sting the eyes?
This sunscreen does have alcohol denat in it, and I have to admit, when my eyes get a little teary, it stings a tad. Not the most fun feeling, that’s for sure. So, I make sure to keep it away from my lash line when I apply it.

Easy to re-apply?
Due to the lightweight formula, this is one of those sunscreens that you can re-apply very easily. It doesn’t get heavy or pill.

Who is it for?
This can work for all skin types, even oily and acne-prone skin. If you have sensitive skin that’s not too keen on fragrances, you might want to give it a pass.

Final Verdict on the SKIN&LAB Hybarrier Fresh Sun Lotion SPF50 PA++++

Pros

  • SPF 50+, PA++++
  • Lightweight lotion.
  • Satin finish, non-sticky or greasy.
  • No pilling.
  • It didn’t irritate my skin or cause acne.
  • Works well with makeup.
  • Suitable for all skin types.
  • Cruelty-free.

Cons

  • It can sting the eyes.
  • Not for those with fragrance sensitivities.

The formula is on point – so lightweight and comfy, it can work on any skin type. No sticky icky business. Plus, bonus points, it re-applies nicely and doesn’t mess with your makeup. Suitable for all skin tones too, thanks to the organic UV filters. The eye stinging can be a bit of a bummer, so gotta watch out for that. And there’s a faint fragrance too, but hey, I’m all for it – it’s a lovely scent! So, if those two aspects don’t faze you, you’re going to enjoy this sunscreen.
