In today’s post I’ll be reviewing the Holika Holika Aloe 99% Soothing Gel and the rest of the products in their Jeju Aloe line. Aloe Vera is widely used in skincare due to its moisturizing and great anti-inflammatory properties.

Most K-beauty products already include it in their formulas, that’s why I haven’t thought of using something that’s mostly aloe-based so far. However, I’ve come to find it very useful especially in the summer time.

Holika Holika has released this Jeju Aloe line that apart from the soothing gel, includes a moisturizing lotion, a body wash and a face wash. Are they all worth it though? Keep reading to find out!

Holika Holika Aloe 99% Soothing Gel Review

Holika Holika Aloe 99% Soothing Gel

The Aloe 99% Soothing Gel is a lightweight moisturizer for the face and body formulated with Aloe Vera extract. It’s designed to help hydrate and soothe irritated and stressed skin from sun exposure and other external factors. The formula is in gel form and doesn’t feel sticky or leave the skin greasy.

Where to buy: This is available at Yesstyle – also in 55ml format (Use code KBEAUTYNOTES for % off your order) and Stylevana.
You can also find the whole line at SweetCare (5 Free mini samples with code GIFTLEDIA with your purchase).

Price: $5-$14

Volume: 250ml (8.45 fl.oz)

PAO: 18 months after opening.

Packaging: All products come in a green plastic squeeze bottle that’s shaped as an aloe leaf. You need to put some pressure into squeezing the product as it doesn’t come out very easily.

Performance of the Aloe 99% Soothing Gel

This has a slightly thick gel type consistency with very good slip that once it sets, there is no sticky residue or greasy feeling. At first, it feels a bit tacky but gets absorbed fast, within a minute or two. Since it’s a gel, don’t expect it to be emollient or nourishing.

But this is one of the reasons you’ll love this in hot weather, because it feels weightless. Great to apply on oily skin or if your back is oily and acne prone because it won’t exacerbate acne.

Offers good skin hydration without being heavy and makes the skin surface smooth. Very good to use for dehydrated skin after swimming.

My second favorite thing is how soothing and cooling it feels after having been in the sun. So great as an after-sun care product. Leaves the skin feeling refreshed.

This gel also contains a bit of Centella Asiatica Extract, Watermelon Extract and Cucumber Extract. These are all great for soothing and reducing skin redness.

It can also be used on the face for those with oily, combination and redness-prone skin.

The formula is alcohol free, but it does contain fragrance.

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Nelumbium Speciosum Flower Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Bambusa Vulgaris Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Zea Mays (Corn) Leaf Extract, Brassica Oleracea Capitata (Cabbage) Leaf Extract, Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) Fruit Extract, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Polyacrylate, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol

Holika Holika Aloe 97% Soothing Lotion Review

Formulated with 97% Aloe Vera for intense hydration as well as a bunch of soothing and antioxidant ingredients like Centella, Green Tea, Purslane Extract, Witch Hazel Leaf Extract etc. Lotion consistency that spreads easily and gets absorbed quickly into the skin without leaving any film.

Where to buy: This is available at Yesstyle (Use code KBEAUTYNOTES for % off your order) and Stylevana.

Price: $10-$17

Volume: 240ml (8.11 fl.oz)

PAO: 18 months after opening.

Performance of the Aloe 97% Soothing Lotion

Just like the Soothing Gel, the Aloe 97% Soothing Lotion doesn’t feel sticky which I really like as anything sticky in the summer would be unbearable. Feels slightly tacky until it fully sets though, but goes away after a couple of minutes. Makes the skin feel very smooth and moisturizes well. If your skin is on the dry side you can use this after the gel to lock in hydration as well as have that emollient protective layer.

It adds a bit of a shine to the skin making it look healthy. I didn’t experience any breakouts from this. This one feels soothing too, but not as cooling as the gel.

The formula is alcohol free, but it does contain fragrance. Check out the full ingredient’s list HERE.

Holika Holika Aloe 92% Shower Gel Review

A shower gel with 92% Aloe Vera leaf juice that cleanses the skin of impurities, relieves irritation and removes flakiness. It gives the skin a fresh scent throughout the day. Because of the gentle formula it can also be used as a body shaving soap or as a as soothing bath foam.

Where to buy: This is available at SweetCare (5 Free mini samples with code GIFTLEDIA with your purchase).

Price: $10

Volume: 250ml (8.45 fl.oz)

PAO: 6 months after opening.

Performance of the Aloe 92% Shower Gel

This is a refreshing shower gel that foams easily and cleanses the skin thoroughly. I don’t think this is moisturizing as the brand claims, but not overly drying. In my opinion it would be best for those with normal and oily skin. You’ll like this especially if your back gets very oily or has a tendency to break out as it does a great job at removing excess oil. Dry skin can use it too if you’ll follow with a body lotion after.

My skin feels soothed and refreshed everytime I use this. It’s perfect after a workout or outdoor activity. I love the aloe scent as it puts me in a good mood.

Overall, it’s a nice refreshing and soothing body wash.

Water, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Nelumbium Speciosum Flower Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Bambusa Vulgaris Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Zea Mays (Corn) Leaf Extract, Brassica Oleracea Capitata (Cabbage) Leaf Extract, Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) Fruit Extract, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance (Limonene, Linalool)

Holika Holika Aloe Facial Cleansing Foam Review

Gel to foam type cleanser with 40% Aloe Vera leaf extract that hydrates, removes dead skin cells and skin impurities. Effectively calms redness and leaves the complexion instantly refreshed and super soft.

Where to buy: This is available at Yesstyle (Use code KBEAUTYNOTES for % off your order).

Price: $10-$15

Volume: 150ml (5.07 fl.oz)

PAO: 12 months after opening.

Perfomance of the Aloe Facial Cleansing Foam

This is a regular cleanser that I’d say it’s more suitable for oily and combination skin types. It cleanses very well and removes sebum effectively. However, it’s not ideal for my dehydrated prone skin as I find it drying, so I mostly use this after a workout when I sweat a lot to remove excess oil/sweat and soothe the skin.

Unlike the other products in the line this cleanser contains Lauric Acid which apart from cleansing, offers anti-acne benefits as well.

I would not recommend this for dry skin and I think there are more gentle options out there for a face wash.

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Water, Lauryl Hydroxysultaine, Myristic Acid, Lauric Acid, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, Chlorphenesin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Disodium EDTA, Palmitic Acid, Capric Acid, Butylene Glycol, Betula Platyphylla Japonica Juice, Zea Mays (Corn) Silk Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Extract, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) Fruit Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Potassium Sorbate

Final Verdict on the Jeju Aloe line

My favorite product from the line is hands down the Soothing Gel, followed by the lotion because from these two you get the full benefits of Aloe. The gel would be amazing if you live somewhere hot and humid to cool and soothe red and irritated skin while offering lightweight hydration. Great to use after sun exposure and perfect for oily and combination skin types. The lotion can be used as a second step to add more moisture for those that need it.

The body wash is refreshing and has a nice scent. The facial wash does the job well, and has soothing benefits, but it’s drying for me so it’s not a must have from the line. They’re all free of alcohol unlike the Nature Republic Aloe Vera Gel, but all contain fragrance. Something to note for those that are sensitive to it.

Every product from this line is very affordable considering the amount you get.

Are you a fan of Aloe Vera in skincare? Do you use it often? Have you tried the Holika Holika Aloe 99% Soothing Gel and the rest of the line?
