Beauty of Joseon has done it again with this Revive Eye Serum Ginseng + Retinal. It’s no secret that their popular Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics Sunscreen is one of my top 5 daily sunscreens because of its lightweight and silky texture. And once again I have been impressed with this brand’s new launch. Some of you may not believe in eye specific products, but not only does this contain retinal – a molecule from the retinoids family with proven antiaging benefits, but it can also be used all over the face. Eye creams are formuIated to be gentle on the delicate eye area so they are more than suitable for the rest of the face too.

I did a review on my Instagram page of this eye serum back in January, but only now did I get around to posting this.

What is the Beauty of Joseon Revive eye serum : Ginseng + Retinal

The Beauty of Joseon eye serum is designed to repair and improve the elasticity of the sensitive skin around the eyes. The formula contains 2% Retinal Liposome and 10% Panax Ginseng root extract. These two create a powerful duo to help fight signs of aging. Other notable ingredients that are also worth mentioning include: Niacinamide, Adenosine, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, and Ceramide NP.

How to use the Revive Eye Serum Ginseng Retinal?

Unlike other products, we should show some extra care when applying retinoids to ensure we get maximum benefits and avoid any potential irritations.

If you’re a first time retinoid user, you can use a lighter consistency product 10-20 minutes before this serum. Otherwise, it can go directly on cleansed (dried) skin.

Second, if your skin is accustomed to a stronger retinoid, this will do fine just for the eyes. But if you don’t use another Vitamin A product, this can be your all over (retinoid) treatment.

Does this go on the eyelids? Products that are designed for the eye area are usually meant to be applied underneath and around the eyes. Not all of them can be used on the eyelids and I cannot see it anywhere written that this is suitable for that. So I personally avoid using this serum on my eyelids or even too close to the bottom lashline.

Consistency

The consistency is so silky. Although it feels emollient upon application, it has a lightweight and easily spreadable texture. There is no stickiness and sinks into the skin pretty fast.

Scent

No fragrance or EOs are present in this formula.

My impressions

I am really glad they came out with this eye serum. I like having a treatment that’s gentle enough to be used around the eyes and powerful enough for antiaging effects. For years, I cared about my eye area by mainly applying hydrating products to keep the fine lines from deepening.

And I was intimidated by active ingredients. But having tried different products containing retinoids, it’s not as scary as you may think. Although of course, always follow instructions and patch test any new product you try.

The elegant formula is a delight to apply. Leaves my skin feeling velvety soft. You will really notice the skin smoothing effect that retinal has after a couple of uses! I only use a pea size amount on my face at nighttime only – every other day. A serum comes before this as a buffer, not a cream, because the thicker consistency of the cream may interfere with absorbption.

You don’t need to have deep visible wrinkles to start using this. Prevention is key! It’s better to be consistent and results will accumulate with time.

The serum hasn’t broken me out nor has caused any skin irritation or flaking. So by using it as I explained above I have avoided the risks that retinoids may pose in general.
