Why Korean Lip Tints?

Korean lip tints are liquid or gel-based lip products that stain the lips with a long-lasting color. They are known for their lightweight, moisturizing formulas that provide a subtly flushed look to the lips. Unique characteristics include their versatility, as they can be applied lightly for a subtle tint or layered for a bolder look.

Many Korean lip tints contain moisturizing ingredients, making them ideal for daily use and especially beneficial for those with dry lips.

Interestingly, even your favorite Western brand lip tints are likely inspired by Korean formulas. Many Western brands have started to introduce similar textures and formulations. While they used to be super sticky, gloopy, or drying, it seems they’ve now significantly upgraded their formulas to match the quality and appeal of Korean lip tints.

I still enjoy using some lipsticks, but lip tints have become my go-to choice for some time now. They’ve inspired me to wear makeup more frequently over the past 1-2 years.

I’m sure you’ve heard of these brands. They create such amazing makeup products that it’s no surprise they’re going viral. I have at least one favorite product from each of them.

Romand Blur Fudge Tint

Who doesn’t love a good Romand lip tint? But the one that’s going viral for 2024 is their Blur Fudge Tint collection, which comes in 11 stunning shades.

Description: This fudge-y lip tint blends well onto lips for a matte and gradient look. It contains macadamia integrifolia seed oil to moisturize lips.

The applicator allows for smooth, thin coats, while providing great pigmentation at the same time.

One of the best things about these type of tints is the ability to play with opacity, giving you the flexibility of more than one product. The formula feels soft and powdery, but in a good way.

Matte formulations can be tricky for dry lips, although it also depends on how dry your lips actually are. But when it comes to these Romand lip tints, there’s nothing a good lip prep cannot fix. I don’t feel like these accentuate my lip lines.

They transfer very little and leave a natural, subtle stain on the lips, with decent longevity. For those of you who found the Zero Velvet Tints a bit on the thicker side, these ones will be perfect. They also tend to adhere a bit better to the lips.

CLIO Crystal Glam Tint

Clio is another well-known brand in Korea that you’ve likely heard of. Many of their products have gone viral, and currently, their Crystal Glam Tint is in the spotlight.

I like the thin and flexible applicator of this tint. The tint itself is not transparent, but has good pigmentation. You can get a really nice color payoff in a single layer, which keeps the look even more natural and the product more lightweight on the lips. As you build it up, the color and shine intensify.

I love the glossy finish—it’s semi-blurring yet not overly thick. Those with drier lips would love the moisturizing formula of this tint.

The tint holds up well and doesn’t transfer much. Ideal for those who don’t want to bother with re-applying the tint a lot throughout the day. Additionally, the stain it leaves is richly pigmented and stays true to its original shade without turning an odd color.

Peripera Ink Mood Glowy Tint Peritage Collection

Peripera, a brand under CLIO, is one of my favorite K-beauty makeup brands. I adore their fun and trendy packaging along with the high quality of their products.

Recently, Peripera has introduced three new shades in their special edition of the bestselling Ink Mood Glowy Tint, and they are flying off the shelves. The all-pink packaging, complete with a cute little pink ribbon, is super adorable.

This tint leaves a noticeable stain after the gloss is gone and stays on the lips for a decent amount of time, which explains why it’s such a favorite formula.

Colorgram Juicy Drop Tint

Last but not least on the Viral Korean Lip Tint list is the Colorgram Juicy Drop Tint. These tints have been all over Instagram recently, with the cutest packaging ever. But the hype is completely deserved due to their fantastic formula.

Another glossy tint that feels moisturizing and takes care of dryness. The viscosity is just right, applies thinly while adhering very well to the lips. As time passes it feels even lighter. Again, although a semi-sheer formula, pigmentation here is good too if you build it up.

It leaves a very nice stain behind as well which makes the tint more long-lasting and allows it to fade beautifully. This is also one of the most affordable options among these Korean lip tints.

As you can see, lip tints with a glossy finish are really trendy in 2024, especially during the summertime. I personally love pairing them with a velvety formula underneath to create even more diverse looks. It feels like you have so many options.

Some common characteristics that these glossy formulas share are their perfect viscosity, which gives the lips a cushiony feel and plumpness, moisturizing properties, and a long-lasting stain. These qualities are exactly what make them so popular.
