I know that newer bb creams and cushions come out every year, but it doesn’t mean that the old ones aren’t as good or they don’t work anymore. You may be familiar with the OG MISSHA BB Cream SPF 42 PA+++. It was so popular back in 2013-2014 when bb creams became known in the west, together with the Skin79 Hot Pink Super Plus BB Cream. In my opinion it’s still going strong even after all these years, and once you get to try it, you’d know why!

What is the MISSHA M Perfect Cover BB Cream

BB creams are usually designed to serve as makeup, sunscreen and skincare at the same time. The Missha BB Cream offers natural coverage, sun protection of SPF 42 PA+++, and other skincare ingredients are included to moisturize, brighten, and soothe the skin. It comes in a 50ml format with a pump.

I always go for #21 in korean makeup base products, so I got mine in the shade No.21 Light Beige (SWATCH BELOW). It’s not precisely my shade, but it gives me a little brightening effect which is very flattering. During the summer months I would definitely go for #23.

The BB Cream comes in 7 different shades: #13 Bright Beige, #21 Light Beige, #23 Natural Beige, #25 Warm Beige, #27 Honey Beige, #29 Caramel Beige, #31 Golden Beige. The range is not amazing, but better than most Korean brands out there.

Application

Pump out the bb cream and dot it on your face with your fingers. You won’t even need a full pump to cover the whole face! I prefer using my fingers to work it on my face due to its consistency, but you may also use a tool of your choice. Apply it as the last step of your skincare routine. In the morning, it should be used after sunscreen.

Scent

I don’t know why but I love the scent of this bb cream. It’s very light and not at all overpowering. It makes the process of applying it very enjoyable for me.

Performance

The shade no.21 is more for light skin that has neutral or cool undertones. If you’re on the warmer side it could look grayish on you.

Texture: It has a light creamy (non oily) texture like a moisturizer. I love this type of consistency as it’s so easy to spread using just your fingers, but it also covers large pores so well! The bb cream fills them in such a natural way, making them much less visible.

Finish: Upon application, there is a sheen like a healthy glow on the skin, which sets into a semi matte-matte finish within 10 minutes. This will also depend on the products that you will use under. I think the consistency and finish are two things that make this bb cream suitable for all skin types. Oily skin will appreciate that it’s not greasy or tacky, whereas dry skin types can use their moisturizer under for added hydration. I love the fact that it doesn’t feel heavy at all like most foundations do.

It goes on super smooth and leaves the skin feeling soft.

Coverage: Light to medium coverage. It doesn’t build up to full coverage though. If that’s what you’re after this won’t be the one for you. Redness and blemishes still peek through like 30%. For active acne you’d definitely need a separate concealer if you’d want to cover them fully. I like to do up to two layers of this and it still feels lightweight and natural on the skin.

Lasting Power: First, I love that it doesn’t become cakey or separate! If you’ve preped your skin well with your skincare it will gradually sink in/fade naturally during the day, while still keeping the complexion evened out. The lasting power is around 4-5 hours on me, depending on the activity and weather as well. So easy to reapply if you need to by simply using your (clean) hands.

As someone with acne prone skin, I love that it doesn’t break me out. Actually, even on those rare days that I’m too lazy to remove it, I still don’t get pimples!

Ingredients

The MISSHA M Perfect Cover BB Cream has 3 sunscreen filters – Octinoxate (chemical/organic filter)Zinc Oxide (physical/inorganic filter)Titanium Dioxide (physical/inorganic filter). (I’d still recommend using a separate sunscreen for more protection as we don’t normally apply the needed amount with only makeup).

Other ingredients include – Arbutin (antioxidant and skin brightening ingredient), Rosemary Leaf Extract and Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract (both have antioxidant, soothing and anti-inflammatory properties)

Adenosine – Helps with wound healing, barrier repair and protection, and it’s even an anti-inflammatory agent. It may help with collagen production and improving skin elasticity.

Final Verdict on the MISSHA M Perfect Cover BB Cream

Pros

  • Lightly moisturizing but non greasy/tacky.
  • Light to Medium coverage.
  • No.21 is more suited for someone with Neutral/Cool undertones.
  • Makes the skin feel soft and smooth.
  • Semi matte finish/Non-drying.
  • Suitable for all skin types, including acne prone skin.
  • Contains antioxidants, brightening and moisturizing ingredients.
  • Sun protection SPF 42, PA+++

Cons

  • Fragrance (for those that are sensitive to it).

Such a great everyday bb cream for those that do not prefer to wear foundations. Application is super easy using your hands (it won’t look streaky or patchy because it blends so well). It’s so natural and weightless on the skin. Makes my pores look less visible (make sure to prep your skin well with skincare). I don’t usually prefer a finish on the matte side, but this is moisturizing and somehow it doesn’t sit flat.

If you like to look glowy, a toner/moisturizer or a sunscreen with a dewy finish will do the work. Also, it’s not drying. The shade I chose is more for those with NC undertones. Suitable for most skin types! No breakouts!
As with most bb creams it is not very long-lasting, but can be easily reapplied. I love it and highly recommend it.
