Ready for the PURITO Sea Buckthorn Vital 70 Cream review? What made me choose this one out of the other creams is because it contains sea buckthorn. I’ve been trying plenty skincare with centella lately and felt like I needed to add something different to my routine. Sea buckthorn (Hippophae), also known as seaberry or sandthorn is a plant which is packed with nutrients like vitamins, amino acids, fatty acids and minerals.

It contains 190 nutrients and phytonutrients and its vitamin C content is 12 times higher than that of an orange. Other vitamins include B1, B2, A, K, E, and folic acid. Rich in fatty acids that are great for supporting the skin barrier functions. Sea buckthorn oil is recommended for acne prone skin, due to its anti-inflammatory properties and for anti-ageing benefits.
70% of the formula in the Vital 70 Cream is Sea Buckthorn extract. It comes in 50ml squeeze tube packaging. Other notable ingredients are: Niacinamide (one of my favorites), Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate and Adenosine.
Application
Apply this with your fingertips at the last step of your skincare routine and before sunscreen. Or you can use it as part of your nighttime routine.

Consistency
It is categorized as a gel-type cream moisturizer. K-Beauty brands really know how to make super elegant textures. It spreads so well. When you first apply the cream it feels very nourishing. I was like “Oh, maybe I put on too much”. But, to my surprise it absorbed fast, felt lightweight and non greasy when it dried down.
Performance
If you experience dryness / live in a cold climate or have skin barrier issues it may not be the best choice as it’s a lightweight cream. I don’t think this will be enough moisturizing, so definitely more suited for oily skin as a night cream or during cold weather, or normal/combo skin in my opinion. The finish is super smooth and pleasant, however when tested with minimal products I would touch my skin and it felt dry under the cream. I mentioned this in my Centella Green Level Buffet Serum Review, that when used together these two products didn’t work well for adding hydration to my skin. The cream performs much better when I use more nourishing products before it like layering the PKY toner / essence or both.
Whenever I use this I wake up with smooth skin. I can get away with not washing my face in the morning as it doesn’t make my skin oilier at night. There was no skin congestion, nor breakouts. It didn’t cause any irritation, on the contrary, reduced my redness and made my complexion look more even. Even better results when combined with the Centella Green Level Buffet serum to reduce inflammation. No change in hyperpigmentation/dark spots though.
I’ve also used it at daytime sometimes since it’s winter now and it doesn’t make my skin greasier during the day. Works great under my (light) makeup. There wasn’t any separation which usually happens when skincare is too heavy. I enjoy applying it under the eye area as well. In addition, it doesn’t affect the application of sunscreen since it dries in a thin layer.

Ingredients
This is the most up to date ingredients list. The PURITO Sea Buckthorn Vital 70 Cream used to have Macadamia Seed Oil, but it has been replaced by Jojoba Oil. It no longer contains Orange Peel Oil so the formula now is Essential oil free.
Although essential oil free, the cream does contain Citrus Unshiu Extract (aka Satsuma mandarin), so those with super sensitive skin should keep this in mind.
As already said Sea Buckthorn is rich in nutrients, but in particular should be mentioned its omega-7 content (palmitooleic acid) that is a part of skin lipids and stimulates regenerative processes in the epidermis and wound healing.
Niacinamide – one of my fave ingredients for acne which fades PIH much faster. Purslane Extract – a traditional Korean medicinal plant as an antioxidant. Pro-Vitamin B5 or Panthenol – moisturizes and has barrier protecting properties. Glycerin and Hyaluronic Acid as humectants.
Adenosine – anti-wrinkle benefits.
Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract (70%), Methylpropanediol, Glycerin, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Niacinamide, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Phenyl Trimethicone, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Citrus Unshiu Extract, Butylene Glycol, Adenosine, Sorbitan Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, 1,2-Hexanediol, Carbomer, Arginine, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Vp Copolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium Edta.

Scent
Many were complaining about the strong citrus scent from the previous formula, but this one doesn’t smell like anything. Whoever is sensitive to scents can use this. It’s awesome that the brand has taken into consideration the customers’ requests.
Final Verdict
Pros
- Lightly moisturizing.
- Smooth finish, doesn’t make the skin oilier.
- Absorbs well.
- Suitable for oily, combo, normal skin.
- Good for redness.
- Makes the skin look less dull and more even.
- It didn’t break me out or irritate my skin.
- Doesn’t contain alcohol or essential oils.
- Cruely-free & Vegan.
Cons
- Not enough moisturizing for dry/very dry skin.
- Calms down redness so skin does appear brighter, but no long term brightening effects yet.
In conclusion, this is a good cream, and I think you’ll thoroughly enjoy it if you don’t experience any dryness or skin barrier problems. More suitable for oilier/normal skin types which can enjoy it more as it’s lightweight, absorbs well and doesn’t make the skin greasy. I didn’t experience any breakouts while using it. Works well under makeup and does not hinder the application of sunscreen which is very important. Noticeable reduction in redness, which makes the complexion look more even. I would repurchase this, but for my skin condition right now it would be more suitable to use for the warmer months.

I LOVED this cream so much I repurchased another, only now, the new version is essential oil free. I totally agree that this isn’t hydrating enough on its own for dry skin But it helps brighten my PIH so much when used consistently
So happy to hear that this works so well for you <3 It's that vitamin C content and Niacinamide which I love for fading PIH 🙂
